Stirring coconut oil, Wal-Mart MCT oil, and any old butter into any old coffee is not how to make Bulletproof Coffee and definitely is not going to give you the brain-boosting, fat burning, creamy delicious benefits (if any!). I made this because I see a vast number of posts on Instagram under the hashtag #bulletproofcoffee doing this! There's a handful of other videos on the Internet on how to make Bulletproof Coffee but I wanted to emphasize the importance of using the right ingredients (plus a couple little tricks to save time and get an extra boost from Collagen protein). I'm going to record another video exclusively talking about butter coffee (or coconut oil coffee) vs. Bulletproof Coffee - because there is are massive differences that the community needs to see.
Ingredients:
- Unsalted Grassfed Butter or Ghee
- Brain Octane Oil or XCT Oil (not as concentrated as Brain Octane Oil, but by far the highest quality MCT oil on the market)
- Blender
- Grassfed Collagen Protein (optional)
Here's the actual recipe and how to make it:
1. Brew 1 cup (8-12 ounces) of coffee using filtered water with 2 ½ heaping tablespoons of freshly ground Bulletproof Coffee Beans (I use a French Press for ease of use and to preserve beneficial coffee oils that paper filters keep out)
2. Add 1 teaspoon to 2 tablespoons of Brain Octane Oil. Keep in mind that this stuff is powerful. Start with 1 teaspoon per cup and work your way up to 1-2 tablespoons over several days.
3. Add 1-2 tablespoons of grass-fed, unsalted butter or grass-fed ghee. Make sure your butter is unsalted! Salty coffee is gross.
4. Mix it all in a blender for 20-30 seconds until it looks like a foamy latte.
5. For added benefits and protein, add some grass-fed Collagen protein for an upgraded morning (make sure to GENTLY pulse it after your coffee has been blended! You don't want to damage the protein)
Let me know what you thought! And if you're making this for the first time, let me know how this goes for you! There are also some incredibly beneficial additions you can throw in the brew to switch it up every now and then (such as raw pastured egg yolk, cacao butter, turmeric, or vanilla). Have smart with it, and if you're Bulletproof Intermittent Fasting be cautious of the protein/carbs in your additions - you want those to be at ZERO so you don't break your fast.
