Bulletproof has come out with a sizable line of supplements earlier this year - from improving sleep (Sleep Mode) to supporting your liver in its detoxifying process (Calcium D-Glucarate).
When they announced Sleep Mode, though, I got really excited. Sleep is something at the top of my priority list. I went straight to the Bulletproof Santa Monica Cafe (they sell products there before they officially go live on their website) and picked up a bottle.
That was almost 3 months ago and I've been taking 2 soft-gels almost every night since I made the purchase (that's the recommended dose).
I do need to make a disclaimer, though: I do not know if it actually improved my sleep.
But I still love the product...let me explain.
My sleep quality is already so good, between 80-90% (according to my sleep tracker app), that I couldn't tell if it actually improved sleep quality.
But here's what it does do for me: I fall asleep quicker and wake up easier/more refreshed
I typically fall asleep between 11:45pm-Midnight. When I take sleep mode I fall asleep between 11:15-11:30pm. That's, on average, an extra 30 minutes of sleep! Or 30 minutes I could be using to read a nice book before bed, or making love, or something!
When I wake up I immediately get into my morning routine (which consists of quiet meditation in the sun [which significantly improves my sleep schedule], reading and/or journaling, prayer, a cold shower for my mitochondria, & an apple cider vinegar tonic) and when my daughter is sleeping with me I wake up extra early to get that morning routine in before she wakes up. If you have kids, you know how important that can be! It helps me get in a fantastic mental and spiritual state before I get in a reactive mode (seeing texts, messages, conversations, anything that involves responding/reacting).
Usually, it takes a little bit of a motivational talk to get me out of the covers; we've all been there, right? For the first few minutes of waking up, I'm in zombie mode, or as if I'm still in a sleepy/dreamy state. When attempting to read, focus on a thought, or write, that can get annoying! It's like I keep falling asleep with my eyes open, just blankly staring at nothing.
When I take Sleep Mode and wake up the next morning, I wake up. No need for a motivational talk, no opened-eyed sleepiness, no zombie mode, I'm ready to rock n roll and I'm totally 100% present in my routine which makes it so much more effective.
So, did Sleep Mode improve my sleep? Like I said: don't know. But because of what I said above, it's totally worth it. I save time and get a bigger ROI on my morning routine. Which are big enough reasons for me to continue buying!
Now, this is what it did to me. I don't know what it will do to you. Maybe you'll get the best sleep of your life, maybe you'll have no response to it, the only way to find out is to try. Around $35 for a month-long supply is not bad at all - especially if it actually does improve your sleep. Sleep is something we should all invest in, in my opinion.
Side note! Before turning to biochemistry to improve your sleep (supplements) try doing the basic things first...such as fixing your diet, timing your carbs to be eaten at night (if you eat carbs), sleep in an all dark room, manage your stress levels, breathing exercises, meditation, things like that. Those can do wonders and you might not even need supplements...because that's all they are: supplements. I don't even take Sleep Mode every single night. Maybe 4-5 nights a week, just to make sure I'm not dependent on external things to get great sleep. Fixing my diet and getting good sunlight worked wonders for me.

If you want an advanced sleep hack that helps me achieve 100% sleep quality, watch my video review I embedded at the top of this page (or click here to go to the exact time).I talk about and share screenshots of my sleep tracker app when I pair Sleep Mode with another powerful sleep/calming supplement.
Have you taken Sleep Mode or any other supplements to help with your sleep? How's your sleep quality stand-alone, without supplements? Leave me a message I'd love to chat with you about it! If there's anything I can do let me know, find me on Instagram.
